New Resource Available for Students and Educators
March 5, 2003
The International Network for Humane Education (InterNICHE) has announced the publication of the second edition of From Guinea Pig to Computer Mouse: Alternative Methods for a Progressive, Humane Education. The 544-page book offers comprehensive information on more than 500 of the latest products in the fields of anatomy, clinical skills and surgery, critical care, physiology and pharmacology.
Alternatives include such tools as multimedia computer simulation, training manikins and simulators, as well as such humane approaches as student self-experimentation, clinical work with animal patients, and the use of ethically-sourced animal cadavers. The book provides details on the application, specifications, and source for each product. ÊLinks to 800 further resources are included as well.
The majority of the book will be made available on-line, providing a searchable database with links to producers and product reviews. Translations into other languages are in production, and CD and DVD versions are planned.
For more information visit the InterNICHE web site at http://www.interniche.org or e-mail coordinator@interniche.org.
InterNICHE (formerly EuroNICHE) is a non-profit charity working with teachers to introduce alternatives and with students to support freedom of conscience.
