SCAW Offers Advanced Workshop for IACUC Members

The Scientists Center for Animal Welfare (SCAW) has developed an advanced program to train members of Institutional Animal Care and Use Committees (IACUC). These IACUC-Advanced courses will give IACUC members an opportunity to learn new information, to discuss complicated protocols with fellow IACUC members, and to keep current with new and developing events.

IACUC-Advanced provides one-day workshops held in different regions around the United States. Each workshop will be developed around Core I, II, and III. The format will let small groups discuss specific, complex topics that are relevant to IACUC functions. The intent is to reach as many people as possible to provide information about current best practices so that IACUC members may make informative decisions regarding the animals. Attendance at entry-level workshops such as IACUC 101, or three (3) years experience as a member of an IACUC, is a prerequisite for the advanced course.

Several workshops are planned for 2005/2006 (see dates below). For more information and registration forms, please see the SCAW site.
