8th World Congress on Alternatives and Animal Use in the Life Sciences Website Launches

Montréal, Canada will host the 8th World Congress on Alternatives and Animal Use in the Life Sciences in August 2011. At this gathering the global animal welfare community and leading scientists will come together in an effort to bridge the distance between science and animal use policy, and to identify opportunities for collaboration.

Scientists from governments, academia and industry and experts and representatives of all major animal welfare organisations, will travel to Montréal from over 50 countries from all over the world. They will share scientific data, policy knowledge and animal use experiences in order to further global progress in the Three Rs--Replacement, Reduction, and Refinement--of scientific animal use.

Clément Gauthier, one of the two Co-Chairs of the congress said: "The most effective policies support both the ethical use of animals and quality science, and are jointly developed with input from scientists, regulators and the public."

The congress will be held at the Queen Elizabeth Hotel in Montréal, Canada from August 21-25, 2011 and will be attended by more than 1,000 experts.
