The Hamner Institutes presents a course on:
Physiologically Based Pharmacokinetic (PBPK) Modeling and its Applications
September 24-28, 2012Register by August 31, 2012 and receive a discount! Earn ABIH CM credit!
Course Description This one-week course will cover the principles of physiologically based pharmacokinetic (PBPK) modeling and the application of this technique in risk assessment, drug development, in vitro to in vivo extrapolation (IVIVE), and estimation of exposures from human biomonitoring data. The course features comprehensive lectures and extensive hands-on computer modeling practice.

Who should attend? This course is designed to serve a variety of scientific communities. • Industrial, pharmaceutical and regulatory scientists desiring to interpret the results of in vitro or in vivo toxicity assays in terms of their implications for human health • Toxicologists and research scientists who develop or conduct in vitro or in vivo toxicity assays • Individuals desiring to learn how to develop and apply PBPK models • Individuals interested in promoting the use of alternatives to live animal testing for regulatory requirements such as REACH
Why should you attend? Upon completion of this course you will be able to: • Understand the fundamental concepts underlying physiologically based pharmacokinetic (PBPK) modeling. • Describe the absorption, distribution, metabolism, and elimination of chemicals using mass balance differential equations. • Build PBPK models to simulate tissue dosimetry using Berkeley Madonna®. • Appreciate the potential uses of PBPK modeling to support in vitro to in vivo extrapolation (IVIVE), human health risk/safety assessment and drug development. • Link PBPK modeling with other biologically based computational tools, such as pharmacodynamic modeling, clonal growth cancer modeling, and cell signal pathway modeling. • Earn up to 30 hours of American Board of Industrial Hygiene CM credit.**
Early Registration ends August 31, 2012. General Registration ends September 21, 2012. Visit COURSE WEBSITE REGISTER FOR COURSE
