CAAT Celebrates 25 Years of Humane Science

On November 2nd, 2006, scientists, policymakers, regulators, and animal welfare activists gathered to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Johns Hopkins Center for Alternatives to Animal Testing (CAAT). A symposium, held at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, featured lectures and discussions about the past, present, and future of the alternatives community, and highlighted CAAT's groundbreaking role in supporting the "Three Rs" of alternatives: Reduction, Refinement, and Replacement. The event also honored the pioneering director of the center, Alan Goldberg, who is stepping down from his position.
CAAT also sponsored the first-ever meeting of the international 3Rs centers. This historic event brought together the major organizations dedicated to the promotion of the 3Rs from across the globe to share, strategize, and build a stronger network.
A documentary about CAAT and the 3Rs can be viewed here.
